Nicolle L. Gonzales

Yesterday we celebrated the people in our lives who nurtured and raised us, and we held space for the spectrum of what a Mother can mean. To keep the vibes going on #matriarchmonday we are highlighting one of IGG's heavy hitters - Nicolle L. Gonzales. She is the founder of the Changing Woman Initiative and a steward for so many new mothers as an Indigenous midwife and a leading voice for reproductive justice.

Nicolle who is Diné received her Bachelor’s of Nursing and her Masters of Nurse-Midwifery at the University of New Mexico. She is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and is certified with the American Midwifery Certification Board. She has over 12 years’ experience as a nurse and has worked as a Nurse-Midwife doing full-scope midwifery for the last 10 years. Through the years, she has worked on several community projects around birth equity and she has served as the founding board president and vice board president of two birth centers in NM.
