Jordan Marie Brings Three White Horses Daniel

Our #matriarchmonday spotlight is Jordan Marie Daniel. Jordan (Kul Wičasa Oyate & Diné) is from the Lower Brule Sioux territory in South Dakota. She is a fourth generation runner who uses her gift of running as her art and her activism.

In 2019, Jordan ran the Boston Marathon in honor of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, Two Spirit people, and relatives. She went on to found Rising Hearts, an Indigenous rights and advocacy group and continues to dedicate her races to MMIW.

In the wake of COVID-19, Jordan organized Running for the Health of All Nations, a virtual 5K, where over 700 people participated from across the country to raise funds for Indigenous communities.

We run together, as a community, to show our support and solidarity for the many Indigenous leaders and frontline workers and caretakers, fighting to protect our relatives. Run for you, run for your elders, run for your siblings, run for your ancestors or run for our next generations. Run with purpose. Running is and can be prayerful. Run for the health of all our relatives - all Nations.
