Naiomi Glasses (Diné)

This week, our #matriarchmonday spotlight was sealed when we viewed this video feature of Naiomi Glasses. She beautifully shares her story of growing up living between two communities, being bullied, and then finding a sanctuary in skateboarding. It is clear that Naiomi is cool, vulnerable, and so talented!

Naiomi Glasses is Diné and lives in the northeastern part of the Navajo Nation. She is a proud seventh-generation weaver who learned in her teens by helping her grandmother, and wove her first full rug at 18. Besides weaving, she tends to the family’s flock of sheep and herd of cattle.

You can view Naiomi’s artistry at www.naiomiglasses.com or on insta @naiomiglasses.
