In today's #matriarchmonday dedication we spotlight Chickasaw poet, storyteller, academic, novelist, essayist, and environmentalist, Linda Hogan. Linda was born in what is known as Denver, Colorado and lives in Oklahoma. Hogan’s poetry addresses so many topics and issues such as the environment and eco-feminism, the relocation of Indigenous peoples, and historical narratives, including oral histories.

She earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs and an MA in English and creative writing from the University of Colorado-Boulder.

Linda released a book of poetry this year titled A History of Kindness. In her poem called The Current Veins of History she shares,

"be like the animal that opens hardness
and carries inside a pearl or goddess
that steps out to a new human accord."
