Indigenous Goddess Gang

Creating a space for sharing medicine through poetry, food & seed knowledge, herbalism, music and more. This is a space for reclaiming knowledge from an indigenous femme lens. Each month we will honor a different tribe of matriarchs in our fashion shoots. Each month we will continue to grow and share the knowledge of our matriarchs and share that medicine.

Indigenous Goddess Gang is a space intended for INDIGENOUS people. We've had our land taken from us, we've had our cultures taken from us,  we've had our languages taken from us. This is a step towards reclaiming our knowledge, identity and medicine.  This site is not intended for exploiting or appropriating.  Tread lightly and respectfully.

Nickname: Kat

My Favorite thing to take photos of: My favorite thing to photograph is animals and people. Preferably both, at the same time. My family's ranching and rodeo lifestyle lets me do that perfectly!

My favorite thing to IG is: My favorite thing to IG is rodeo and ranching stuff because thats kind of what the whole "theme" of my page is. If I post something modern or out of my style range it makes me uncomfortable and i have to delete it.

I’m secretly terrified of: I'm secretly terrified of dying alone, cliché I know. Which leads to the next question.

Best Relationship advice I’ve ever gotten was: I don't get relationship advice often because I've never been in a relationship. Yep, twenty years alone, FUN! I'm awfully good at giving relationship advice though. People actually listen to me! I normally say, "Make your own life before you become someone else's wife." which is what I'm currently trying to do.

My ultimate style icon is: My ultimate style icon would have to be my dad! He grew up in the rock and roll era. The era I wish I grew up in! He had the long hair, the cuffed t-shirt sleeves, the ripped Levis, and black chucks. I sometimes look at old pictures of him and just see myself. I love me some 70s-80s rock music, leather jackets, patched pants and ripped shoes.

My guilty pleasure is: My guilty pleasure has to be hot cheetos! Rez girl, I know. My mom is the ultimate health nut. She makes sure my sisters eat good and run a couple miles a day. I'd be lucky if I sneak a bag of hot cheetos in there somewhere.

I feel fearless when: I feel fearless when I'm with all my sisters. I'm so thankful for them. They are my biggest supporters. There ain't nothing I can't do with the love I get from them.

A few women who inspire me: A few woman who inspire me are again, my sisters. Especially the two oldest because they take care of their husbands and kids with ease. My mother would be next, after the passing of my father she stepped up and loves all of us with all she has.

My proudest career moment: My proudest career moment would have to be being able to photograph the Indian National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. Huge thank you to Jamie Arviso for the opportunity! Cowboy lifestyle photography has always been my favorite. I always used to look up to Jamie and Matt Cohen for their rodeo and lifestyle photography. The fact that I now work with Jamie just makes me question my existence.
